Mrs. White is back after retirement! She says, “Once a Red Devil, always a Red Devil.” This is Carey White’s 35th year teaching, and yes, she loves it because of the students! Springville High students are amazing, she says. Mrs. White is teaching Small Business Math, Economics, and Accounting. Also, she’ll be one of our FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America Advisers. Mrs. White has five children and nine grandchildren! She loves spending time with her family, travelling (she recently traveled to Japan and South Korea), mountain biking, gardening, cooking, and especially LOVES anything business and computers.

Welcome to our new Science teacher, Mr. Doug Morris!
I was born in Pueblo, CO but moved to Las Vegas, NV, when I was 5. After graduating high school I attended Ricks College/BYU-Idaho and served a mission. Soon after graduation I got hired to teach integrated science at Mont Harmon Junior High in Price, UT. After 6 years I was asked to come take over the chemistry program at Carbon High. I spent 12 years teaching classes like Biology, Chemistry, concurrent enrollment Physics and concurrent enrollment Anatomy and Physiology. We also raised both of our boys there. They are Carbon High graduates. The oldest is a student at BYU and the youngest is starting missionary service in the Kiribati Islands. While raising my sons, we all got heavily involved in soccer, one of the sports I played growing up. I coached the first travel team from Carbon County (to my knowledge) and have continued coaching soccer for the Voltage FC club all the way through last fall. I love learning and my learning opportunities have been incredible. I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology, a Chemistry minor and in 2019 I earned a Masters degree in Physics. The last 4 years I have been working with a research group funded by the National Science Foundation. I acted as a science teacher leader and as teams we built and taught Utah SEEd standard science lessons. This led me to applying at BYU to get a Masters and a PhD in Instructional Psychology, which I will be working on the next several years. This is my 19th year of teaching which means that almost all of this year's seniors weren't even breathing when I started teaching. That's gotta be a mile-marker of some kind and not really one I want to think about too much!

Join us this year for our "Farewell to the Building" Season! We chose the theme of saying goodbye for our main show selections: Les Misérables (Fall Show), Tuck Everlasting (Musical Theatre class), Our Town (Spring play), Bring the House Down (Performing Arts Dept Spectacular), and our bonus show of Six. Drama 3 and Drama 4 will also be performing a one-act play this Spring, and they will be announced soon. There will be plenty of opportunities for students this year to participate in some way.
First up, we are kicking off the year with a bang for our big schoolwide musical and performing Les Misérables, School Edition. It is exclusively available to high schools and professional companies, so don't miss the chance to audition for it! We are holding auditions this Friday in the Little Theater, my classroom. Please use Signup Genius to secure a time slot, and please fill out the audition form along with your parents/guardians. Here are the links for both:
