Congratulations to the April Students of the Month, nominated by faculty members of the Fine Arts Department.
Greyson Loveland, nominated by Mrs. Gwilliam. "Greyson has really grown this year in Drama 3. He is great to participate in any activity. He joined our competition team, and wrote his own monologue. He is also in our one- act, and when we had to rearrange parts for comp, he learned a new part in a week. I am really impressed by his talent and desire to keep doing more. I can't wait to see what he does next."
Monroe (Mo) Bradley, nominated by Ms. Israelsen. "Mo has taken ceramics both semesters this year and spent nearly every day after school in first semester improving her throwing. She does really beautiful work and continues to push herself and her skills in Ceramics."
Thomas Jensen, nominated by Mrs. Jensen. "Besides being my son he has really embarrassed expressing himself and processing his emotions of the stress of being a teenager by using the visual arts as an outlet. He comes in at lunch and just wants to paint. He enjoys it so much I have to tell him after school to do his homework first then paint. He is an awesome peer in class. He provides complements to others without being asked and is always willing to help others when they have a question. I am so glad he signed up for painting 2. He is not talented because I am an artist, he has worked hard to learn and grow with his style. I am excited to see him progress more for his senior year."
Sophia Montoya Branez, nominated by Mr. Booth. "Sophia is one of my bravest students. She transferred to SHS at the beginning of the school year, transferring to a new school is hard enough but then she had only half a day to prepare for and then audition for me for my chamber orchestra. She wasn't ready for this at all, and she was brave enough to meet me in person and directly tell me that she wasn't ready for chamber. When there are problems or questions that she has, she has always taken the initiative to speak with me directly when most of my other students wouldn't. She has shown great courage and diligence this whole year and I look forward to working with her next year as well."
Brevin White, nominated by Mr. Hawks. "Brevin has done an exceptional job in my animation class. Brevin has pushed the bounds of his projects often going above and beyond to try new things and push himself artistically and technically. The time he has spent refining his projects and overall skills as an animator have been great to see as a teacher. He's found the part of art that he not only enjoys but excels at and his high level has been a source of inspiration for other students in the class who he often helps out on their own projects."
Jazlynn Guerra, nominated by Mrs. Jensen. "Jaz has recently discovered a real joy in the creative process and in the visual arts, and it has been wonderful to watch that enthusiasm grow. She brings such positive energy into the classroom and helps create a supportive environment for everyone. Jaz is always willing to help translate instructions into Spanish when needed, which has been incredibly helpful and thoughtful of her. I especially admire how open she is to trying new things and how she doesn’t give up when something doesn’t turn out the way she first planned. That persistence and willingness to learn are qualities that will take her far. I only wish I had the chance to work with her for more than her senior year, but I know she is going to do great things after high school."
Kaycee Franson, nominated by Mrs. Jessop. "Kaycee is a joy to have in class. He is usually happy and positive in school. He is friendly towards everyone. He works hard in all of his classes. He cares about all of his classmates. He has compassion and empathy for others as they go through their challenges. He has been an officer in the FFA this year and has done his duty in attending meetings and helping wherever he is needed. I love having Kaycee in my class!"
