The Springville High School swim team made waves at the recent state championships, showcasing impressive talent and determination throughout the competition.
Preliminaries:
Springville qualified 17 individual swimmers for a total of 29 races, with all 6 relays advancing to the next round. Eight individual swimmers returned for finals or consolation finals, competing in 14 races. Three relay teams also advanced: two women’s relays made it to the A Final, while one men’s relay competed in the consolation final.
Finals:
In the consolation finals, the following swimmers earned top finishes:
Hayllee Hatfield: 14th in 50 Free, 14th in 100 Free
Jane Warren: 10th in 50 Free
Colbie Weight: 14th in 500 Free
Macie Poulson: 13th in 200 Free, 14th in 100 Fly
Ella Brimhall: 12th in 100 Breast
Men’s 400 Free Relay: 11th place
In the championship finals, Springville swimmers continued to impress:
Logan Hansen: 3rd in 100 Fly (New SHS School Record: 51.68), 4th in 500 Free
Aulia Leauanae: 1st in 200 Free (State Champion, New SHS School Record: 1:54.21), 1st in 100 Back (State Champion, New SHS School Record: 55.84, All American consideration cut)
Kate Brower: 5th in 200 IM, 4th in 100 Breast
Ella Brimhall: 8th in 50 Free
Relay teams also brought home top results:
Women’s 200 Free Relay: 3rd place (Kate Brower, Jane Warren, Haylee Hatfield, Ella Brimhall)
Women’s 400 Free Relay: 5th place (New SHS School Record: 3:45.84; Aulia Leauanae, Haylee Hatfield, Macie Poulson, Ella Brimhall)
Team Results:
Springville’s men finished 14th out of 22 teams, while the women’s team earned an outstanding 4th place out of 23 teams.
