March Students of the Month

Congratulations to the March Students of the Month, nominated by members of the English Department.

John Grey, nominated by Mrs. Jones. "John is wonderful to have in class. The biggest words I would apply to John are PROGRESS and IMPROVEMENT. That is what this recognition is all about and that is amazing. As the year goes on I see him working harder and harder. No matter what I ask of him, he doesn't give up! I have seen more improvement with him than any other student this year and I am so proud of him. We all have more room for improvement and John is working on it and that impresses me so much. He is incredibly smart and comes up with such great insights, even though he is very quiet, plus, I notice he has great taste in music."

Destiny Maciel, nominated by Mrs. Richins. "I have been impressed with Destiny since I first met her. She is a happy, cheerful student. Destiny has high expectations for herself, and she consistently puts in the time and effort to achieve her goals. Destiny surrounds herself with other students who, like her, also work hard and do well. She makes her classmates laugh while they work, so they all feel more optimistic and happy during class. I sure appreciate her!"

Yurem Roman, nominated Mrs.Olsen. "Yurem is the first student who came to mind when discussing student of the month. He is always willing to participate in our class discussions, and when things get a little quiet or a topic gets complicated, Yurem doesn't shy away, he digs deeper. What I appreciate most is that his responses aren’t just quick answers, they’re thoughtful ones. You can actually see the gears turning. He listens carefully to his peers, and he isn't afraid to offer a different perspective. Yurem reminds us that learning is about being willing to think out loud, take intellectual risks, and grow from the conversation. Yurem is a thoughtful, engaged, and intellectually brave student who has truly earned this honor."

Jaelynn Key, nominated by Mrs. Downs. "Jaelynn is so fun to have in class. She is intelligent, hard-working, and willing to help others around her. She brings well thought comments to our Socratic Seminars in class, and contributes with perspectives that further the conversation in class. She is also funny and colorful which is always nice to have in a high school English class. I am so grateful that I get to teach her."

Victor Solis, nominated by Ms. Daniels. "I've had the privilege of getting to know Victor throughout this year and I'm so proud of all the progress and growth I've seen in him! I've seen Victor go through some ups and downs, but he has pushed through and shown his resilience and dedication to self-improvement. Victor is a smart, kind, and determined human who can do whatever he desires with his future. I feel very lucky to have gotten to be a small part of Victor's high school experience."

Julianna Rivero, nominated by Ms. Daniels. "Julianna is a joy to teach and know as a person. From the first days of school I could tell that she was a leader. As the year has progressed, I have witnessed that leadership over and over again. Julianna has a knack for drawing people in and loving and guiding them to be better people. She is currently interning at the Santaquin Police Department and is looking into a future law enforcement career. I know that Julianna will be honest and caring and we need that in the world."

Tegan Shepherd, nominated by Mrs. Cottle. "I've gotten to know Tegan over the last few years as I've been fortunate enough to have him as a student. He consistently shows dedication and a strong work ethic in class, approaching every task with a positive attitude and a willingness to try—even when the work is challenging. Nothing feels “too much” for him; instead, he rises to expectations and puts in genuine effort each day. He is polite, respectful, and brings a sunny, happy presence to the classroom, which makes a real difference for both his teacher and his peers. He is friendly and kind to his classmates, and his steady commitment to learning makes it clear that his hard work will continue to pay off in the future."
