There are many tests which SHS students are required or requested to take. Below is a listing, description, and testing dates of those tests. For more information, you can also visit the Nebo School District Testing Web Site.
ACT
"The ACT Assessment ® is designed to assess high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work.
The tests cover four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science reasoning."

Test Dates:
There is an ACT prep course program available for $50. Mr. Frossard and Mrs. Burr will give specialized instruction for all subjects covered on the exam as well as detail effective test-taking strategies. Sign up and pay in the finance office. Be sure to specify class dates.
December ACT-Class is offered on November 4th and November 11th from 8:00 am- 12:00 pm - (May be an hour later for those taking the new writing portion)
April ACT-Class is offered March 10th and March 17th from 8:00 am- 12:00 pm

Advanced Placement Testing

ASVAB
The ASVAB ( Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery ) is required for any military career but anyone can take it without any military obligation. To learn more about the ASVAB click here.
IOWA
The Iowa Test of Basic Skills testing program is a voluntary, non profit cooperative program for Grades K through 12 provided as a service to the schools of Iowa by the College of Education of The University of Iowa . Schools participating in the program subscribe to a comprehensive program of professional services: ITBS test materials, scoring and reporting, and consultation are available throughout the school year. From its beginning in 1935 with the Iowa Every Pupil Tests, the emphasis in the program has been on the use of test results for instructional purposes. To that end, virtually all Iowa school districts-both public and private-voluntarily participate in this annual program. For their part, the schools provide assistance to ITP by participating in research projects and test development efforts conducted by the Testing Programs. PLAN
As a "pre-ACT" test, PLAN is a powerful predictor of success on the ACT Assessment. PLAN focuses attention on both career preparation and improving academic achievement. The PLAN test is given at the beginning of the Sophomore year, however, Juniors who have not taken it are encouraged to. PLAN Test Date - September 26th, 2006 For more information click here.
PSAT /NMSQT
"The Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test (PSAT) is published by The College Board as a tenth or eleventh grade practice instrument for students taking the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) in the eleventh and twelfth grades." The PSAT is generally given mid-October. This test also serves as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Students wanting to apply for the National Merit Scholarship should take this test the fall of their Sophomore year. For more information click here. PSAT Test Date - October 21st, 2006
Scholastic Assessment Test
"The SAT is a standardized, multiple-choice test used by most U.S. colleges and universities for admissions and placement decisions. SAT scores can also be used to determine scholarship eligibility. The test is administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and given nationally seven times a year.
The SAT is a seven-section, three-hour exam. Three of the sections are Verbal, three are Math, and one is experimental." For more information visit www.collegeboard.com .
UBSCT
The Utah Basic Skills Competency Test (UBSCT) is given to students in February of their tenth grade year. This test includes three major sections: reading, writing, and mathematics. Beginning with the class of 2006, students must pass every section of this test, as well as complete all other graduation requirements to receives a regular high school diploma. The UBSCT will be offered twice a year, and students will have multiple opportunities to retake any sections they have not passed. Students who attempt each section three times without passing and that complete all other graduation requirements will receive a Certificate of Completion for high school.
