DEVILS ARE ROLLING
By Dan Foster, SHS Staff Writer
After three straight easy victories you might think a team would become complacent allowing themselves to lose focus and become over confident, but that was not the case last Friday night as Springville handled a tough Tooele squad 38- 27.
In the first quarter if someone had to guess what was written on the Red Devil’s playbook they probably would have said something like, “Throw the ball to Jeff Boyd.” He torched the Buffalo defense with two long touchdown receptions before they were even able to react. But, Biorge, the running back for Tooele also saw a lot of green matching Boyd and Allred with two touchdowns of his own all in the first quarter.
Once the defense adjusted and was able to trump Tooele’s game plan, it was all smooth sailing from there. Isaac Allred proved unstoppable again all game long delivering five touchdown strikes, two to Boyd, two to Frampton, and one to Sumsion.
The Red Devils will take their four game winning streak to Orem today at 6:30, and it will televised on the channel KJZZ. Thanks for all the support so far this year and help support the Red Devils today against the Orem Tigers.

Debbie Allred, drill team advisor at SHS, was selected as the UDOT Fan of the Week during Homecoming.
DEVILS SOAR PAST SKYHAWKS
By: Dan Foster, SHS Staff Writer
The only mistake the Springville football team could have possibly made two Friday nights ago was running up the score, as they obliterated the Skyhawks, 42- 8 in Salem at the new Salem Hills High School.
The flurry of offense began for the devils with Colton Ramon who broke the ice quickly, tearing down the sideline for an eleven yard run. On the ensuing drive, Springville went again to their star running back and he was able to pound it in for another touchdown off of a one yard hand off.
Once Springville got comfortable there was not much the Skyhawks could do. They watched the Red Devils take a commanding 35-0 lead by the end of the first half which was fueled by Isaac Allred’s three consecutive touchdown passes to Luke Frampton, Jordan Sumsion, and Jeff Boyd.
The defense played another outstanding game holding the Skyhawks to only eight points, while the offensive line paved the way for the Red Devils enabling the offense to score 42 points when all was said and done.
FFA busy with activities
By Nathan Ahlborn, FFA Reporter
The Springville FFA chapter started off the year with its annual “Welcome Barbeque” on Thursday, September 4. Families of FFA members enjoyed a wonderful evening! Parents learned all about FFA from Mrs. Brinkerhoff, our new chapter advisor, while children played fun games outside. We had twice the turn-out compared to last year with many people who appreciated great food and fun!
FFA students went to the Utah State Fair in Salt Lake City on Monday, September 8. We enjoyed seeing FFA and 4-H student’s agricultural projects as well as rides, food, and attractions at the fair. A big thanks goes out to Mrs. Brinkerhoff and parent volunteers for helping supervise!
Our FFA Homecoming float was a success with the help of the Green Line Tractor Company which provided a John Deere tractor to help haul a trailer full of excited FFA members. Later that afternoon, FFA alumni with help from the current FFA officers and Mrs. Brinkerhoff provided a tail-gate dinner for the staff of Springville High School.
The FFA is hosting a baseball tournament for all the clubs at Springville High School in the next couple weeks. Admission will be a dollar. If you’re interested, please listen to the announcements for the date and time. We hope to see you there.

SHS Passes Adequate Yearly Progress
By Eli Allen & Dan Foster, SHS Staff Writers
When it comes to schools in Nebo school district, Springville High school is top notch. Springville High is the only school in Nebo district to pass all testing percentages each year since the “No Child Left Behind Act” became law.
This act requires that a school have a certain percentage of students pass the yearly, end of level testing.
For instance, in the 2007-2008 school year, the Language Arts section required a passing percentage of 76%, Springville High passed with 90% of the 598 students that took the test. For the UBSCT (Utah Basic Skills Competency Test), 91% of the tenth grade passed far outreaching the 84% state average. The most surprising statistic was the 91% that passed the Physics test, which is unheard of.
